2017 Toyota Hilux Release and Redesign

The 2017 Toyota Hilux will come only a year after the completely redesigned 2016 model made its debut. The eighth generation of this iconic truck adopted a whole new exterior design together with substantial changes in its interior. Adding to the Hilux’s well-known sturdiness and ruggedness, the latest updates brought a new level of comfort as well as a more refined driving experience. That said, we expect the 2017 model to come almost identical to its predecessor. We expect the new 2017 Hilux pickup to hit the markets in mid-2016.

The 2017 Toyota Hilux will be one of the most versatile pickup trucks in the segment. After the model range has recently been expanded, the Hilux will be offered in as many as 31 different variants. Namely, there will be three body styles with three specification levels, four engines, two transmissions and both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. Standard equipment accross the Hilux’s range will include cruise control, headlight levelling, air-conditioning, 12-volt accessory socket and many more amenities. As for the standard safety features, expect to see stability and traction control, seven air bags, emergency stop signal and anti-skid brakes.

When it comes to the design, the Toyota Hilux 2017 will feature new LED headlights, a revised grille and front bumper as well as new imposing side fenders. Thanks to the latest sheet metal overhaul, the Hilux boasts a more modern and refined look compared to its predecessors. Inside the cabin, there will be a redesigned dashboard adorned with brushed aluminum accents and a more stylish instrument panel. Also, the new steering wheel has been fitted with numerous controls, while the new gauge cluster now comes less cluttered. You may say that Toyota’s designers have given the Hilux’s interior a lot of thought and managed to improve its quality substantially.

2017 Hilux Engine Specifications

The 2017 Toyota Hilux will be available with two naturally aspirated gasoline and two turbodiesel units. The gasoline-powered range consists of a 2.7-liter four-cylinder producing 164 horsepower and a 4.0-liter V6 making 278 hp. For those who opt for a smaller diesel unit, there will be a 2.4-liter that generates 160 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful diesel will come as the 2.8-liter turbodiesel cranking out 174 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. All of the units will be available with the standard six-speed manual transmission and the optional six-speed automatic gearbox.
